As línguas estranhas são um sinal exclusivo da operação do Espírito Santo durante a Dispensação da Graça, ou da Igreja. João Batista foi o último profeta vinculado à Dispensação da Lei, para a qual não havia o plano de línguas.

The Bible answers:
"Why was John the Baptist filled with the Spirit and never spoke in tongues?"
The tongues are a sign of the unique operation of the Holy Spirit during the Dispensation of Grace or the Church. John the Baptist was the last prophet linked to the Dispensation of Law, for which there was not the plan of tongues.
Only when the first disciples were baptized with the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:1-6), then there was the wonderful phenomenon of speaking in tongues.
