No momento em que Jesus apareceu a Saulo no caminho de Damasco, rodeando-o de uma luz e dizendo-lhe: "Saulo, Saulo, por que me persegues?" Os acompanhantes ouviram a voz, mas não viram a pessoa de Jesus: At 9.7. O texto de Atos 22.9, segundo as melhores traduções, afirma que eles ouviram a voz, porém sem entenderem o sentido das palavras, e que também viram a luz. Há, certamente, uma falha de tradução na Almeida Simplificada, ao registrar em Atos 22.9: "... mas não ouviram a voz...".
As principais traduções, como a Revisada da SBB, a Versão da Imprensa Bíblica Brasileira e a edição em espanhol de Casiodoro de Reina, 1569 (revisada em 1602, 1909 e 1960), registraram: "... mas não entenderam a voz..."; em vez de: "... não ouviram a voz...". Em 26.13,14 do mesmo livro temos ainda outras informações, a de que a luz envolveu também os companheiros de Saulo, que caíram por terra, e a língua usada por Jesus foi a hebraica. Como se vê, um texto completa o outro, não havendo qualquer contradição entre eles.
