A Bíblia responde:
parado segundo a nossa concepção?"
O Sol - centro do nosso sistema
expressões: "pôr-do-sol" e "nascer do sol".
termo "deman" exarado 21 vezes no Velho Testamento, significando,

AND, AS TO THE PRAYER OF JOSHUA?
The Bible answers:
"In the book of Joshua (10.12-15) is written that Joshua commanded the sun to stop. But, according to Science, is that the Earth revolves around the sun. How is that Joshua commanded the sun to stop if it is stopped according to our vision? "
The sun - the center of our planetary system is only relatively still, as walking, running fast toward the star Vega in the constellation of Hercules, dragging the system in question. This is, in a sense, its translational motion. As the engine speed, the king star takes 24 days and 15 hours to complete the return around its axis. One can, therefore, say that the sun is stationary, but, in relation to our planetary system. Nevertheless, even today scientists themselves use the terms "sunset" and "sunrise." People often said: "The sun goes high" or "the sun goes south." However, in the days of Joshua and the second Egyptian astronomy, the Sun and Moon were the ones which walked around the Earth. Of course the Bible is not a scientific textbook, but their assertions are true. It employs, however, a popular language in order to divine truths can be assimilated, even by the most humble people.
Joshua, when he addressed the sun, applied the term "demands" recorded 21 times in the Old Testament, meaning, among other things, will silence you. The Hebrew word holds for you is "amad." which occurs hundreds of times in the Old Testament, usually translated as standing or stopping.
It is accepted in scientific circles, that the revolution of Earth around its own axis is driven by the action of the sun on our planet. So when Joshua commanded, "be quiet sun" or "hold it", the rotation of the globe Earthling would have substantially lessened by a temporary weakening of the solar action on it. There are, of course, other theories to explain the arrest of the Sun narrated in the book of Joshua, but we believe in the biblical word.
Finally, modern astronomers have taken the trouble to look at the astronomical calendar, if indeed the event had actually occurred. After tedious searches and studies, concluded that, in fact, missing a day in the ephemeris, concluding then, that almost a whole day (Joshua 10.13b), corresponding to 11 hours and fifty minutes, so that really proved the Earth was stopped for a whole day of sun
